Tai Chi Traditions: Oral Teachings vs. Written Classics

Notes from discussion with Sifu Damon Bramich 7 years ago. Many of the methods of Yang Tai Chi Kung fu are not in the “Tai Chi Classics”. Much of the tradition is not written but passed down in the training, methods, and oral explanation.

Mian Quan (cotton boxing)
Wudang- Jiang Fa– to Chen Changxin– to Yang LuChan

Yang Luchan– was able to get the deep chan si jin required for jin li dian by doing long form 6 to 10 times a day for 6 years.

2nd son Yang Banhuo- son Yang Zhaopeng (principle teacher in Guangfu town, Yongnian county, while other family (Yang Jianhuo, Yang Shaohao, and Yang Chengfu) went north to Beijing and eventually Shanghai).

Fu Zhongwen studied with Yang Zhaopeng from age 8 to 25.

3rd son: Yang Jianhuo– 1st son Yang Zhaoyuan– daughter Yang Kun married Zhao Shutang– son Zhao Bin and daughter Zhao Guizhen. Fu Zhongwen married to Zhao Guizhen.
