Skin as we age:Reduction in essential skin components: fat, collagen, elastin
Thinning of dermis: more delicate with age, thinner skin more prone to damage
Reduced collagen production: 1% lost a year starting at age 25., decreasing structural support, forming wrinkles and sagging.
Damaged skin fibers: diseases, injuries, chronic inflammation, excess sun exposure, regeneration slows down with age.
Declining HA production: loss of skin fullness and increasing dryness.
Reduced oil production: sebaceous glands become more less active.
Increase in pigment issues: dark spots, red spots, etc.

Reduce muscle tone: loss of muscle tone causes looseness.
Facial contours impacted: less defined and sculpted, cheeks and jawline, features can become less pronounced.
Sagging and drooping: lifting and firmness are lessened.
Facial expressions impacted: certain expressions become more challenging.
Tx: facial motor points, cupping, guasha, increase qi, blood, jing. : improve muscle tone, muscle activation, blood circulation, muscle relaxation,

SMAS may weaken with age, causing sagging, jowls, wrinkles.
Deep fascia is under the SMAS. It protects deep muscles of the face. Maintains position and control of muscles.

Tx: acupuncture, guasha, cupping can promote blood and circulation assisting the collagen. Facial rejuvenation, relaxation release tension.
Ligaments:Vital anchors to facial muscles and fascia to underlying bones, preserving the face shape and positioning of soft tissue.
Weak ligaments do not support and stabilize face structures.
Ligament laxity: loss of tension and shifting of structures.
Contours and proportions, symmetry can be affected by altered ligaments.
Loss of facial volume: distribution of fat causing sunken appearance. Ligaments lax can cause deepening of facial lines, expression altered.
Impact on bone reabsorption, affecting bone health.
CM: Improve blood circulation, stimulate collagen production, facial muscle relaxation, lymphatic drainage, skin rejuvenation.

HA levels help with the structural integrity of the skin, collagen, elastin, firmness and youthful appearance.
Topical HA products are available to enhance skin texture.
CM: yin and blood. Fluids. Improve blood circulation, increase hydration, activate collagen production, relax muscles, rejuvenating the skin.
