Pathogenesis: weak lungs, prones to EPF, pathogenic yin accumulation due to weak LU, KD, SP

Pathogenesis: Wind-heat exterior invasion of upper jiao, early stage warm febrile disease

Chai ge Jie Ji Tang Bupleurum and Kudzu Decoction to Release the Muscle Layer
Signs/symptoms: increase fever/decrease chills, headache, stiff extremeties, eye pain/pressure, irritability, insomnia, thin yellow coat, flooding pulse
Pathogenesis: wind cold and wind heat not properly treated leading to internal heat, EPF settles into muscle layer
Treatment principle: release the pathogen from muscles, clear internal heat.
Chief: Chai Hu: cold, bitter, acrid, harmonizes shao yang, soothes liver, raise clear yang 3-10g
Ge Gen: cool, sweet, acrid, release exterior, relax muscles, clear heat 6-12g
*these two release pathogens from muscle layer while clearing heat.
Deputy: Qiang Hou: warm, acrid 3-6g
Bai Zhi: Acrid, warm, release constraints in Yang Ming channels 3-6g
*these two will accenturate the chief herbs action of release exterior and alleviate pain.
Huang Qin: cold, bitter, drain internal heat from upper jiao. 6-9g
shi gao: cold, sweet, acrid 4.5-15g
*these two combined clear heat from yang ming channels.
Assistant herbs: Jie Gang: warm, acrid, dispel external pathogens by invigorating the Lungs D/D function 3-6g
Bai shao: cool, bitter, sour, nourish yin that may be lost due to sweating 6-9g
Envoy: Gan Cao: clear heat, harmonize other herbs. 3-6g
Sheng jiang: acrid warm, release exterior, aids in main action of formula. 3-6g
Da Zao: neutral sweet 2-3 pieces

Sheng MA Ge Gen Tang Cimicifuga and Kudzu Decoction
Signs/symptoms: Skin rashes, fever, headache, cough, red eyes, thirst, red tongue, rapid pulse
Pathogenesis: Early stage measles or rashes due to externally contracted heat trapped in LU and ST
Treatment principle: Release the pathogens from the muscle layer, vent rashes

Pathogenesis: exterior wind-cold invasion with Yang and qi def.
Treatment principle: Tonify yang and Qi, induce sweating, release exterior
Chief: Huang Qi: sweet, warm, tonifies qi, blood, and middle jiao, tonifies wei qi to stabalize exterior. 6g
